Artifact 7 - Personal Website and School Website (2009 & 2012)

Name: www.jamestwright.com and www.sfcougars.org

This website demonstrates habits and skills of continous inquiry and learning. As part of my position I am required to maintain a framework for the school website. Currently the website is based on a Content Management System (CMS) called Plone. This personal website is based on another CMS called Joomla! which could have been used to create the school website. In creating this site I have learned the advantages and disadvantages of both systems and if Plone needs to be replaced in the future I will have experience with a potential replacement.

[In addition to the practical knowledge gained by installing and developing this site, the viewer will find evidence of graduate work in Instructional Technology located on the site. More specifically, during the spring semester of 2009 I participated in Selection and Integration of Materials through the University of Northern Iowa. Parts of this site are to be used to fulfill the requirments of that class.] Note: this material is no longer available.

Since this article was originally written I have taken what I learned from this personal website and redesigned the school website using Joomla!. The new site was completed in the fall of 2011. The school site includes a few more features including embedded audio and embedded video. I have also done live video streaming of commencement and joint school board meetings. These streams are embedded on the school site as they occur and then replaced with recordings of the events.
