Artifact 8 - Moodle (2009)

Moodle is an online course management system. I installed Moodle for use with Computer/Web Applications. In that class I use it to assign and collect projects, communicate expectations, post daily plans, and distribute various material used in the class. It allows me to plan a class and communicate with students in an efficient manner. The site is available outside the school network so students can access it from home or the library to find out what was expected in class when they are absent.

It further demonstrates my desire to keep up-to-date with trends in educational technology and learn more about individual applications that may be of use to others in the school.

After Moodle was installed and I had used it for one semester, it occured to me that it could be used for documentation of teacher collaboration. All SFHS teachers have an account on Moodle where they can add documentation of collaboration events as they occur. The data is stored in a self-contained database and includes teacher names, topics discussed, and how the discussion will impact instruction.
